Service members and their families have access to a wide range of nonmonetary benefits that strengthen well-being, provide stability, and support their everyday needs. These resources improve quality of life, promote readiness, and build community, creating a dependable foundation that supports them throughout the military journey.

FINANCIAL COUNSELING

All active-duty, National Guard and reserve service members, their family members and survivors are eligible to receive free financial counseling services to address the potential effects of financial decisions on personal and professional lives.

The Military and Family Life Counseling Program supports service members, their families and survivors with confidential counseling where they are stationed.

Save money when you shop at commissaries and exchanges. The military commissary and exchange systems offer tax-free shopping and discount goods and services

LEAVE BENEFITS

Service members have a variety of leave options, inlcuding regular, emergency, maternity/convalescent, and parental. Service members may request leave at any time. Approval is at the discretion of the command, and based upon a wide variety of factors, including operational requirements.

Access to child care directly affects mission readiness and morale for military-connected families worldwide. The DoW provides child care options to meet the needs of military-connected families, including on and off installations, to support a variety of schedules, and uses a sliding fee scale based on total income.

The SpouseWorks program provides free education and career coaching services to all eligible military spouses. These coaches can help at any stage of a spouse’s life, from finding the right school or connecting with employers to starting a business.

Exceptional Family Member Program Family Support (EFMP) provides information, resources, skills and support to help military families with special needs navigate their systems of care. EFMP Family Support helps service members and their families identify and access programs and services.

NEW PARENT SUPPORT PROGRAM

The New Parent Support Program is designed to help parents through the early years of parenting. It is a free, voluntary program staffed with home visitation professionals designed to help families thrive and find services in their community when they need them.

RELOCATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Whether you have orders for temporary duty or a permanent change of station, or are separating from the service, expert staff from Military OneSource and your installation Relocation Assistance Program can help you master your next military move, with information, education, referrals and coordinated support.

FAMILY ADVOCACY PROGRAM (FAP)

The Family Advocacy Program, addresses child abuse and neglect, domestic abuse and problematic sexual behavior in children and youth. FAP is delivered through the military services, which work in coordination with key military components and civilian agencies.

CASUALTY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Casualty Assistance program provides support for military families if their Service member is missing or deceased or suffers a serious illness or injury. This includes making them aware of their benefits and other forms of assistance.

COMMUNITY RESOURCE FINDER

Use the Community Resource Finder to search thousands of community services, locally or out of state, and to connect with immediate help. The tool is available through Military OneSource’s Member Connect website and all resources are vetted, military-friendly and free or low cost.

The School Liaison Program offers services and resources to support children, parents, installation leadership, schools and the surrounding community. School liaisons are experienced professionals who support, advise and build partnerships with the civilian and military community to help address common education challenges of military families.

Military OneSource MilTax is a suite of free tax services provided by the Department of War (DoW). It includes tax prep and filing software tailored for military life and comes with personalized support from tax consultants trained in military-specific tax situations.

MWR RECREATIONAL LODGING

Military benefits allow Service members and their families to stay at MWR recreational lodging around the world. From cottages at the beach to cabins in the mountains, MWR offers access to great destinations with a little planning.

INFORMATION, TICKETS, AND TRAVEL PROGRAM

Designed to help Service members and their families enjoy activities at a lower cost, the Information, Tickets and Travel Program (ITT) offers travel and recreational services to Service members. Discounted rates are available for active-duty, reserve and retired military personnel, as well as Department of War (DoW) civilians and their families.

Beyond books, installation libraries operate as community hubs, offering a place to connect with others, discover new ideas and experiences and access technology. The MWR Libraries virtual collection includes e-books, audiobooks, movies, academic support, test prep, professional development, career transition and a vast array of learning resources and online content for all ages and interests.

RELATIONSHIP CHECKUP

Regular health checkups can catch small issues before they become big problems. This can also apply to your relationship. A Relationship Checkup with your military and family life counselor can keep your bond strong by highlighting strengths and addressing growth areas that need attention. Sessions are free, confidential and flexible.

Sometimes, talking to a peer who’s shared many of your experiences can help you discover new solutions and make the most of your military life. Take advantage of Military OneSource’s peer-to-peer specialty consultations to discuss personal or career aspirations or the realities and challenges of military life.

SUMMER CAMPS FOR MILITARY-CONNECTED YOUTH

Keep your kids and teens busy, engaged and having fun at a variety of Summer camps created specifically for military-connected youth. Camps are available to connect kids and teens with new experiences and with other military-connected youth.

The Department of War (DoW) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offer services designed to support a successfully separation from military duty.
