Hardship Duty Pay (HDP) is an allowance paid to Service members, both Officer and Enlisted, based on duty location, mission specifics, operations tempo, or restriction of movement.
A Service member may be paid special pay for duty subject to hostile fire or imminent dangers for any month when the member, while entitled to basic pay for active duty or compensation for inactive duty, also meets HFP/IDP criteria
Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay is additional compensation available to Service members who volunteer for certain duty designations.
Federal law authorizes more than 60 Special and Incentive (S&I) pays that support Service members across a wide range of missions and career fields.
